The Think 20 associated event was organized by Boston University’s GDP Center and UNCTAD’s called “Scaling Development Finance for the Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Agreement”.
The workshop “Scaling Development Finance for the Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Agreement” was held on April 23 and brought together members of the T20 Task Force “An International Financial Architecture for Stability and Development” along with global experts and select policy makers to engage in global dialogue on these issues. The T20 associated event was organized by Boston University’s Global Development Policy Center (GDP Center) and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).
20 experts in investment, infrastructure and development attended the event, including Amar Bhattacharya, Brookings Senior Fellow and T20 co-chair; Leandro Serino, T20 Policy and Research Team coordinator; Candelaria Alvarez Moroni, the Executive Director of Global Economy and International Finance Architecture of the G20; and Kevin P. Gallagher, professor and director at Boston’s GDP.
The workshop aimed to cover how multilateral development banks (MDB) can scale up and coordinate their efforts to transform their economies. It also examined how these institutions can use their funds more effectively, managing risks and remaining accountable to their respective missions and development goals.
The T20 is made up of ten Task Forces of which one is the ““An International Financial Architecture for Stability and Development” and covers the following topics: coordination of monetary policies, coordination of foreign exchange rates, capital flow data gaps and financial disclosure, strengthening the global safety net, MDBs and balance sheet optimization and cryptoassets.
