Over 1000 people from 68 countries took part in the T20 Summit on Monday 17 and Tuesday 18 September. At the event, engagement group officials presented to the president of Argentina Mauricio Macri the Communiqué with its vision on global governance and the public policy proposals.

There were a number of topics discussed at the event, one of which was climate change and infrastructure for development. The participants in the plenary session were Naoyuki Yoshino (ADBI), María Eugenia Di Paola (United Nations Development Programme), Christoph Beier (GIZ) and Amar Bhattacharya (Brookings Institution). Gabriel Lanfranchi (CIPPEC) moderated the session.

The conversation focused on the recommendations the experts will give to the G20 to take advantage of the benefits of accelerating climate change in the short, medium and long term. Additionally, the specialists responded to questions like “What financing mechanisms do emerging countries have to develop their low-carbon infrastructure?”, “What governmental mechanisms should be implemented to improve the cooperation between national and subnational governments to implement the nationally determined contributions?” and “What is your opinion on the removal of fossil fuel subsidies?”.
